Billie Louise Kretzer Lauderdale left us peacefully on Sunday, August 22nd after a long life and a brief illness. Billie was born to Richard and Rosie Kretzer on October 13th, 1934 in Cooks Point, Texas. She was one of three and the only girl, raised with her two brothers Charles and Bernard. She married Cliff Lauderdale on November 3rd, 1955 and they were married for 43 years. A private graveside service was held Saturday, August 28, 2021 at the Caldwell Masonic Cemetery.
Billie was a woman of strength and true country grit. She was an avid and accomplished quilter and founding member and leader of the Cooks Point United Methodist Church (UMC) Creative Memories quilt guild. She was passionate about her community and loved her family deeply. She was instrumental in starting the Caldwell Christian Care Center, helping hundreds of people throughout Caldwell. Her two sons, Kenneth and James "Jimmy" Lauderdale were her pride, but her true joy was her grandchildren: Kevin, Jeff, Brad, and Brian, as well as all her great grandchildren.
Billie was loved and will be missed as a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, as well as the best pie baker in at least three counties.
She is preceded in death by her husband Cliff, brother Charles and his wife Hulene, and survived her sons and their wives Kenneth and Emily and Jimmy and Teri, brother Bernard and his wife Joy, nephew Richard Lauderdale, as well as all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren Brad and Tanya, Kevin and Crystal, Jeff and Octavia, Brian and Jackie, Lauren, Kileigh, Dominic, Cassidy, Mitchell, Lincoln, Owen, Reyna, and Author.
