Billy Wayne Dodson, a beloved member of the Somerville, TX community, passed away on September 14, 2023, at St. Joseph Regional Hospital in Bryan, Texas. Born on January 13, 1933, in Kilgore, Texas, Billy lived a remarkable life filled with dedication, hard work, and heartfelt connections with his loved ones.

From the early age of 17, Billy embarked on a fulfilling career in the oilfield industry. He joined the D & D Case and Puller company, which was co-founded by his father and uncle. With immense passion and tireless effort, Billy dedicated over 30 years to the oilfield industry. His commitment to his work was unparalleled. Beyond his professional career, Billy was known as "Mr. Fix-It" in Somerville.

He possessed an innate talent for solving problems and helping others. No matter the challenge at hand, Billy always lent a helping hand and found joy in assisting those around him.

One of the most cherished aspects of Billy's life was his faith and devotion to God. As a pillar of strength for his family, he instilled Christian values in all those who had the privilege of knowing him. His teachings will forever guide and inspire generations to come.

In addition to his successful career and strong faith, Billy had several passions that brought him immense joy throughout his life. He shared countless moments of laughter and music with his late wife, Myrna Dodson.

The couple loved karaoke and would sing together at various venues and weddings. A guitarist himself, Billy found solace in playing music as he strummed away on his instrument.

Billy also served as an aviation instructor and mechanic during his time enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. His dedication to duty left a mark on those he trained alongside. His service to our nation is forever appreciated.

Billy Wayne Dodson's impact extended far beyond his achievements; it was his warm and caring personality that touched the lives of many. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and countless cherished memories.

He is preceded in death by his parents James Dodson and Gertie White his first wife Ann Marie Dodson, his second wife Myrna Dodson, a son Stephen Dodson, his granddaughter Tiffany Dodson, and a great-granddaughter Jasmine Maxwell.

He is survived by his children, Dale Dodson, and wife Sue of Pearland, TX;

Lynda Garcia and husband Junior of Longview, TX; and Rhonda Hertel and husband David of Abilene, TX, and his extended family, including 11 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the Funeral Service to be held on Monday, September 18, 2023, at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville. The service will commence at 3:00 pm to celebrate the life of Billy Wayne Dodson. The burial will be held September 19 Tuesday at 1pm in Hermleigh, Texas

Pallbearers include Stephen Dodson, Joey Wayne Shelton, Lindsey Garcia, Kimmy Garcia, Brandon Hertel, Chad Hertel, and Neil Byrd.

In honor of Billy's life and his incredible contributions to our community. donations can be made in his memory to a charity of your choice. May we all strive to carry on Billy's legacy of compassion, resilience, and unwavering faith in both ourselves and others.
