Blanche was born August 4, 1923 to William “Bill” Kazmir and Lizzie (Zwernmann) Kazmir in the Second Creek Community near Caldwell, Texas. Within a few years they moved to Cooks Point and finally on to the Hix Community. She joined the church at the age of 12 and has been a member since: approximately 75 years. She went to school in the Hix Community where she graduated eighth grade. She took the text to go to Highschool in Caldwell, but changed her mind.
Blanche met James M. Touchstone at a baseball game in Milano, Texas. They fell in love and were married December 14, 1940. They had two children, Barbara Ann and James Allen. Blanche went to work at Valiguara’s Food Store in Caldwell where she spent 45+ years as a checker.
Blanche helped “Mr. Bit” on their farm and ranch. They built a home from money they received by raising and selling livestock. She would drive the school bus for Mr. Bit if he was unable to. She had her chauffer’s license so there would be no problem. When they were older, she and Mr. Bit enjoyed travelling. When he was younger, he had been a fire fighter in both Colorado and Wyoming and they would visit these two states regularly.
Blanche liked to cook and was always helping with church socials in the Hix Community.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James M. Touchstone; son, James Alan Touchstone; daughter, Barbara Nelson; two sisters; five sisters-in-law; six brothers-in-law; and one granddaughter.
Survivors include: daughter-in-law, Leah Touchstone of Caldwell; son-in-law, Wilford Nelson of Caldwell; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; five great, great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and family friends.
Pallbearers will be James McEvers, Marco Nelson, Terry C. Jackson, Jimmy Davenport, Billy Davenport, and Robert Wadkins. Acting as honorary pallbearers will be David Nelson, Kevin Nelson, and Robert Jackson.
Remembrances are gratefully accepted in her name at Masonic Cemetery
