Carol Marie Shelfer, a beloved member of the Snook Community, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2025, at the age of 64. Born on August 30, 1960, Bryan, Texas to Harold and Juanita Shelfer, she will be dearly missed but lovingly remembered by all those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
As a devoted member of the Snook Brethren Church, Carol embodied the values of love, faith, and community. She was known for her infectious laughter and joy. Growing up, she cherished time spent with her grandmother, creating sweet memories that would bring a smile to her face throughout her life.
Carol had a deep passion for music, with a particular fondness for artists such as Alan Jackson, George Strait, Reba McEntire, and Elvis Presley. Her enthusiasm for these icons led her to become a proud member of their fan clubs. A delightful highlight of her life was having an Elvis impersonator serenade her with the timeless song “Love Me Tender” on her birthday, presenting her with a ceremonial scarf from the “King” himself.
In addition to her musical interest, Carol enjoyed playing dominos, demonstrating her competitive spirit and love for camaraderie. She was surrounded by the love of her family, including her sister Connie Loehr, her brother Buddy Shelfer, and her niece Deidra Loehr. She also leaves behind loving nephews, Bradley Shelfer and his wife Raeann, and Zachary Shelfer. Her great niece and nephews, Hazel, Henry, and River Shelfer.
Pallbearers are Zachary Shelfer, Bradley Shelfer, Kenneth Sebesta, David Shelfer, Stanton Sebesta, and Dennis Sebesta. Honorary pallbearers are Alan Shelfer and Alan Macik.
Family and friends are invited to pay their final respects during the viewing scheduled for March 30, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Strickland Funeral Home located at 530 TX-36 South, Caldwell, Texas 77836. A funeral service in celebration of Carol’s life will follow on March 31, 2025, at 10:00 AM, also at Strickland Funeral Home. The burial will follow the service at the Snook cemetery.
