Carolyn Ann Surovik passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bryan, Texas on Thursday, November 25, 2021. Her funeral service will be held at New Tabor Brethren Church in Caldwell, Texas on Monday, November 29, 2021.
Carolyn was born on April 20, 1946 to Henry and Emma Urbanovsky. She was raised on her family farm in Caldwell and graduated from Caldwell High School in 1964. After attending college at Sam Houston State University, she married Albert Joe Surovik on April 1, 1967. She worked at both Methodist Hospital and Heights Hospital in Houston until the birth of her first son. Together they had three sons, Robby, Leland and Brian, before moving to Victoria in 1981. One of her favorite pastimes there was watching her boys play football, basketball, and baseball. She worked alongside her husband, Albert, at Central Freight Lines until she retired in 2006 when she and Albert moved back to the family farm in Caldwell.
Carolyn was a lifelong Christian, having been confirmed at Cook’s Point Brethren Church and later attending New Tabor Brethren Church as an adult. She was a proud member of the New Tabor Christian Sisters. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed keeping up with their academic successes and sports activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Emma Urbanovsky; in-laws, Paul and Vlasta Surovik; brother-in-law James Surovik; nephews Michael and Joseph Surovik, and other loving family members.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Albert Surovik of Caldwell; son and daughter-in-law Robby and Tammy Surovik of Nevada, TX; son and daughter-in-law Leland and Gina Surovik of Texas City, TX; son and daughter-in-law Brian and Kari Surovik of San Antonio, TX; 6 grandchildren, Keaton Bush, Mackenzie Surovik, Marshall Surovik, MacyRae Surovik, Melanie Surovik, and Keslyn Surovik; 2 great-grandchildren, Keller Bush and Kollins Bush; and many other beloved brothers and sisters-in-law, nephews, and cousins.
