Charlsa Ann Wine, 53, passed away on March 20, 2025, in The Woodlands, Texas, surrounded by her family. She was born on December 28, 1971, in Amherst, Texas, to Vicky Ann Pigg and Charles (Elmo) Smith. She moved to Caldwell, Texas, when she was 10, where she was adopted by O.T. Wine. Shortly after the move to Caldwell, she met her group of best friends, Roxanne, Angela, Paula, and Shelly, who are now known as the CRAPS sisters.
After graduating from Caldwell High School in 1990, Charlsa moved to Houston, where she worked for TGIFriday, initially as a server and later as a manager in their new sports bar concept at the Ballpark at Arlington.
In 1996, she moved to Houston again to join Saltgrass Steak House as a manager. While working in the restaurant industry, she met Mark Goodman. They welcomed their first child together, Jack “J.T.,” in March 1997 in Houston. Not long after, they moved to Austin, where she studied at the University of Texas at Austin and completed her degree, earning a Bachelor of Arts in History. While in Austin, they had their daughter, Sophie, in April 2004.
In 2005, the family moved to Caldwell in search of a small-town environment for their children to spend their childhoods. While living in Caldwell, Charlsa was involved in numerous community activities and organizations. She also co-owned and operated The Amherst House boutique on Buck Street.
Her love language of cooking and feeding people was well-known throughout the town, where she was able to start her catering/meal-prep business, “Cha Cha’s,” based on the nickname by which she was affectionately known.
Her time was spent experimenting with new recipes, enjoying time outdoors, connecting with her spiritual side, listening to her favorite music, and hanging out with her loved ones.
She is survived by her mother, Vicky and stepfather Bobbie; two children, Jack and Sophie; their father, Mark; and her siblings, Chrystal, Robert, Shane, Michelle and Andrew.
She was preceded in death by her fathers, O.T. and Charles; her grandparents; and her dog, Maggie.
