Clarence Schoppe

Wayne Schoppe, 66, of Humble passed away on Monday, May 11, 2020.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 14, 2 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Friday, May 15 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church with burial to follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.

Wayne grew up in Somerville and graduated from Somerville High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era. After travelling the world with the U.S. Navy, he then enlisted in the U.S. Merchant Marines to see more of the world. He worked for Central Freight Lines in Houston for many years while living in Humble, Texas. He enjoyed family BBQs and holiday gatherings, watching his two favorite football teams, The Dallas Cowboys and Kansas City Chiefs, country music, dancing at the country and western clubs around Houston, playing dominoes and cards with friends and family. He will be remembered as one who would always have something hilarious to say and would bring a smile to your face and make you laugh.

He is proceeded in death by his father, Clarence William Schoppe and brother Timothy Edward Schoppe.

Survivors include his mother, Valeria Schoppe; brother, Michael Schoppe; sisters, Delores Stoneberg and husband Bill, Karen Robinson, Jane Robinson and husband Kevin, and Gail Schwettmann and husband Duane; nieces, Sarah Jane Milne and husband Caleb, Colleen Robinson; nephews, David Dillard and Derek Dillard.

Pallbearers are Michael Discher, Chris Discher, Freddy Brending, Duane Schwettmann, Kevin Robinson and Michael Schoppe.

Memorials can be made to St. Ann’s Catholic Church.
