Clem Lednicky

Clem Lednicky, 94, of Snook passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2016. Visitation will be Sunday, July 24, 6 - 8pm at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville. Services will be held at Snook Brethren Church, Monday, July 25 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Joseph Polasek Officiating. Burial will follow at Snook Cemetery.

Clem was born To Frank Lednicky and Julia (Prohaska) Lednicky on May 21, 1922. He graduated Snook High School in 1939. Clem served his country during WWII in the United States Army. He married Mary Irene Tuttle, the mother of his children on June 19, 1943. He married his second wife, Mary Elizabeth Westmoreland on December 23, 1967 and third wife, Dorothy Smith on September 18, 2009. He worked for Houston Lighting & Power for 25 years. Clem was a cattleman until he couldn't do it anymore. He took up roping at the age of 60 and won numerous awards. Clem was a Wagon Boss on the Salt Grass Trail Ride in Brenham from 1954-1988, a real cowboy, in later years he was in Team Penning. He helped to organize the Somerville Yegua Riders. Clem also donated the beef for the annual Snook Brethren Church BBQ every year. He was always willing and ready to help if anyone ever knocked on the door. The loss of Clem Lednicky will greatly be felt by his family, friends and community who loved him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Olga, Vlasta, Lenora, infant sister, brothers, Fred, Adolf, Alois, Frank, Rudy, son-in-law, Jim Davenport, sister-in-law's, Rita, Jessie Mae, Effie, first wife and mother of his children, Mary Irene Tuttle, second wife Mary Elizabeth Westmoreland, granddaughter, Corinna Lednicky and great-grandson Bryan Wilson.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, wife, Dorothy, son, Clem "Bubba" Lednicky and wife Sheryl, daughters, Sandra and husband Larry Landrum, Joan Davenport, brother, Leroy and Betty Lednicky, grandchildren, Tina Weightman, Dana Peterman, Mary Alice Lednicky, Gina Hilton, Pacer Lednicky, great-grandchilren, Randall Wilson, Kody Fisher, Kourtney Buck, Taylor Weightman, Sydney Hilton, Baleigh Hilton, Cori Lednicky, great-great-grandchildren, Tristen Wilson and Hayleigh Buck.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Kody Fisher, Pacer Lednicky, Charles Doonan, Pete Scarmardo, Leon Cash, Jr. and Justin Lewis.

Honorary Pallbearers are Bob Doonan, Leon Cash, Sr., Rayfield Slovacek, Jack Hearne, Jack Stifflemire, Edward Telschow, Clarence Junek and Bennie Ray Sebesta.

Memorials can be directed to the Snook Brethren Church.
