A Private, Immediate Family ONLY Graveside service for Craig Barron Ayers, Sr., 60, of Caldwell are set for Friday, March 27, 2020, with Rev. Steve Johnson officiating. FLOWERS WILL BE ACCEPTED AT STRICKLAND FUNERAL HOME IN CALDWELL ALL DAY THURSDAY. Mr. Ayers passed from this world March 21, 2020 in Bryan, Texas. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for all who are interested. Until then, please keep the family in your prayers.
Craig was born on July 12, 1959 to Filmore Ayers and Birdie Lee (Johnson) Ayers in Caldwell, Texas. He married Diane Cummins April 18, 1980.
Craig was a Deacon at the First Baptist Church in Caldwell and a member of the Praise Team. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, BBQing, Blue Bell butter pecan ice cream, camping with his family, watching the Dallas Cowboys and time spent with his granddaughters, (they called him PaPa).
Craig was preceded in death by his father, Filmore Ayers, Sr.; and brother, Dury Ayers.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Diane (Cummins) Ayers of Caldwell; mother, Birdie Lee Ayers of Caldwell; sons and daughters-in-law, Craig & Tracy Ayers of Caldwell, Marcus & Karen Ayers of Caldwell; brothers and sisters-in-law, Filmore Ayers, Jr. of Houston, Sylvester Ayers of Houston, Eugene & Norva Ayers of Magnolia, David & Lisa Ayers of Caldwell; sisters, Mary Gaston of Houston, Birdie Lynn Tyler of Caldwell; grandchildren, Lilly, Lylah, and Leah Ayers, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and his church family.
The Ayers Family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and fellowship during this difficult time. Memorials to defray the Funeral Cost may be given to Strickland Funeral Home or to the family. May God Bless and keep you all....
