Curt Stewart

Curt Stewart passed away peacefully with his family by his side, Thursday, October 17, 2024, in Temple, Texas. A Celebration of Curts' life will be held, Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., at Strickland Funeral Home Chapel, the burial will follow in Caldwell Masonic Cemetery. The family will receive guests from 5:00 ~ 7:00 p.m. Monday, October 21, 2024, at the funeral home.

Curt Stewart was born to Eileen Echterling and Charles Stewart on May 10, 1963, in Gary, Indiana. 

 He is carried on in spirit by his loving wife, Nancy Stewart; his children and children-in-law, Erik and Kealy Stewart; Meagan and Camille Stewart; and Jordan Stewart; and his two grandchildren, Duke and Tate Stewart. He grew up alongside his brother, Chad Stewart, in Crown Point, Indiana. He was an avid cross-country runner and devoted son, working with his father in the family’s lumberyard over summer breaks.

 He attended Western State College of Gunnison, Colorado, where he earned his bachelor’s in business administration while concurrently running cross-country. He worked in construction throughout college, building houses in Colorado to pay his way through school. 

He met his wife, Nancy, during his undergraduate studies in Gunnison, Colorado in 1983, where they enjoyed their time together exploring the Rocky Mountains, skiing, fishing, and camping. They were married in 1985 and resided in Texas for most of their lives together, first in Houston, then Lake Jackson, Texas, with another few years in Gunnison. In 1996, Curt, Nancy, Erik, and Meagan moved to Austin, where Curt started his company, First Tech Molding. Jordan was born shortly after, and the family had a busy life in Austin until finally moving to Caldwell, Texas in 2016.  

Curt was a cunning businessman who navigated many entrepreneurial ventures over his 28 years in the plastic injection molding industry.

His time in the mountains awakened a love for fly fishing, and he spent many hours through the years in the rivers and streams of The Rocky Mountains. He enjoyed being poolside with his family, grilling with his son, and being outdoors. One could usually find him in the yard, shirtless and sunbathing, enjoying his carefully curated playlist for all to hear. Curt's love for the outdoors was a significant part of his life, and he shared this passion with his family. He was a dedicated family man, always providing for those he loved and supporting them in their various endeavors. Fondly referred to as Pa, he loved his grandsons dearly and enjoyed time spent together searching for Big Foot; although they were never successful in their quest, he was always successful in locating a scoop of ice cream and a fishing book they could relish together. He left this world too soon, and with it, he left a hole that will be impossible to close, along with shoes that we will forever be striving to fill.
