Brother Delmar McCracken walked into the arms of Jesus at the age of 83, on Tuesday, October 11, 2022. His memorial service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at Harmony Baptist Church, with Reverend Charles Cole officiating.
Pastoring churches was Delmar’s life ambition and passion. He cherished the time he spent on the pastoral field. He was ordained in 1968 and graduated with his Master of Divinity degree in 1971. He served as a bi-vocational pastor to many churches while working for AT&T full-time. Since his retirement from AT&T in 1989, he has been able to devote himself fulltime to the ministry. He preached his last sermon on Sunday, September 4, 2022 at Lyons First Baptist Church. Delmar loved visiting and singing at the nursing homes. In March 2022, he got to travel to Kentucky to see the Ark Encounter and Creations Museum. He devoted his entire life to God’s ministry and loved spending time with family and loved ones.
He also served his country in the United States Army.
He is preceded in death by his parents, , a son Carlton McCracken, one brother Marcus Frazior McCracken Jr., and one sister Juilene Clark and a great-grand-daughter Jeanette Kellough.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Treva McCracken , his sons Andrew McCracken and wife Lucy, Timothy McCracken and wife Melissa, his daughter Laura Kellough, his sister Connie Pratt, and husband John H., sister-in-law Amelia Farrell and husband Bill, Lois Mullins, and Brenda Martin, grand children Angela and Erick Ligorria, Kristopher and Jessica Kellough, Jonathon McCracken, Peter McCracken, and his great-grandchildren Joshua Kellough, Landon Kellough, Thomas Kellough, and Khloe Kellough.
