Donny Ray Baron, 78, passed away Thursday, March 10th, in St. Luke’s Cancer Hospital in Houston with his family by his side. Donny was born January 26, 1944, to Herbert A. and Alberta (Spacek) Baron in Caldwell, Texas. He was baptized April 3, 1944, at Caldwell Czech Moravian Church. He married his first wife Loretta and they had one son, Donny, Jr. December 17, 1967, he married Patricia Todd in Waller, Texas. They had one daughter together and Donny adopted Pat’s son William.
He graduated from Caldwell High School in 1962 and immediately went to work for Soil Mechanics. In 1965 he went to work for GTE and retired with 28 years of service. He worked for TEEX teaching telephony. He worked 10 years for Somerville ISD, then worked part-time for Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home. Donny joined the Warren Lodge # 56 of Caldwell, Texas holding several positions, including Master of Warren Lodge #56, District Deputy Grand Master, a Member of Star of Republic Scottish Rite Club receiving the Double Eagle Award. He also was awarded the Golden Trowel. Donny was also instrumental in setting up program for serving a meal at the Senior Citizen Center. In his spare time, he has his cattle, sheep, woodworking, building BBQ pits. He enjoyed his family and liked to work with his nephew making sausage, bacon, etc. Donny and his son-in-law, James Yendrey, enjoyed hosting a BBQ for friends and family each year. Donny also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his father-in-law.
Donny is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert, and Alberta and one grandson, Chase Baron. Also, his faithful four-legged companions Buster and Rowdy.
He is survived by his wife Patricia Baron, his sons, Donny R. Baron, Jr., and William L. Baron. One daughter and son-in-law Disanna and James Yendrey, Jr., two brothers, William Glenn Baron & wife Marty, H. A. Baron Jr., and wife Jane Ann. One sister and brother-in-law, Judy Stevener & husband Ralph. Eight grandchildren and two grand daughters-in-law. Eight great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews.
