Edward Dale Schoenberg, 64, of Somerville passed away on Monday, August 27 on the farm that has been in his family for nearly 100 years.
Dale loved dove hunting and fishing with his family, and spending time on the farm where he and his family raised cattle. He moved to Somerville from Pasadena his senior year of high school, where he helped run the family’s store and restaurant, Top of the Hill. Dale served in the U.S. Army from 1974-78 and often spoke fondly of his time while stationed in Germany. He was a fun and loving father and husband who loved spending time with his grandkids. They often said, “Pop can fix it, he can fix anything.” This was what many of us thought of him - he could figure out just about anything that we couldn’t. In his younger years he spent time doing beautiful woodwork and art and even made his own guitar. He will be deeply missed by many.
He is preceded in death by his parents, E.W. and Teresa Schoenberg and brother-in-law, John Edward Lewis.
Surviving family include his wife Brenda Schoenberg, sisters, Charlette & Tammy Schoenberg, brother George Schoenberg; daughter Sandi Ricci and her husband Joey, his son Matthew, daughter Kori Hoelscher and her husband Kevin; granddaughters Rhyan Ricci and Makayla Hoelscher, grandsons Hunter Hoelscher and Reid Ricci; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ginger Lee, Sammy and Carol Brinkman, Harold Lewis, Jr., Kim Lewis, Barbie Lewis, Glenn and Barbara Lewis, and Guy and Teresa Hargrove; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A casual Celebration of Life and Veterans Tribute will be held on Saturday, September 1 at 2pm at the Somerville American Legion Hall.
Honorary Pallbearers are Dusty Todd, Eric Oberhoff, Brazos Oberhoff, GH Schoenberg, Travis Schoenberg, Michael Hargrove, Mark Hargrove, Justin Lewis, Charles Lewis, Colton Lewis, Chad Lewis, David Pratt, and Eugene Wolk.To send a flower arrangement to the family of Edward Dale Schoenberg , please click here to visit our Sympathy Store.
