Ella Jakubik

May 17, 1923 — November 23, 2016

Ella was born to Joe and Annie (Noska) Ondrasek on May 17, 1923, in the Red Hollow Community near Caldwell. She worked with her parents on their farm and attended Caldwell High School.
She married Joe Albert Jakubik on June 20, 1942, in Caldwell, Texas. She and Joe made their home in Snook on the family farm next to Joe's parents - Joe and Frances (Sebesta) Jakubik. Following Joe's untimely death in 1959, at the age of 36 - Ella remained on the farm and with the assistance of her parents-in-law, raised their 4 daughters. In addition to farming, Ella worked at the Snook Bakery as well as at Kovar Lumber and Hardware for many years. During her daughters' time in school she was involved in various school activities including the PTA and other organizations. She was active in the Extension Homemakers and the Snook Brethren Church - Choir, Sunday School, Christian Sisters-and a member of SPJST Lodge #9, Snook.
As she had grandchildren, she became known to many in the community simply as "Granny". Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She took great time caring for them, cooking for them, attending as many of their school and athletic events as possible and just being there for them. Her grandchildren will fondly remember her dewberry cobbler, fried chicken, home-made donuts and being called "inka". This care-giving was extended to even her great grandchildren so long as she was able. Her life can be exemplified as the "ultimate caregiver" always giving all she could of herself.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Albert Jakubik, her parents Joe and Annie Ondrasek, parents-in-law Joe and Frances Jakubik and grandson Chad Robert Kovar.
Survivors are: four daughters and sons-in-law Joann and Rayfield Slovacek, Dorothy and John See, Shirley and Harry Lewis, and Yvonne and Larry Kovar; one sister Dorothy Droehmer and nine grandchildren Darryl Slovacek and wife Jackie, Joey Slovacek and wife Jennifer, John See III, Randall See and wife Jonna, Rebekah Hruska and husband Justin, Larry Lewis and wife Missy, Jeremy Lewis and wife Niki, Loree Lewis and husband Justin, Kathryn Rausch and husband Erick, and twenty-three great-grandchildren Dylan and Brighton Slovacek; Mason & Morgan Hein; Carlee, Natalee, John William IV and Wesley See; Colby and Caleb See; Kyleigh, J.
