Florentino Basquez

Florentino “Floyd” Basquez, 98, of Chriesman, TX, passed from this life on August 16, 2021, in Beaumont TX.

Florentino was born on November 16, 1922, in Chriesman, TX to Marcello and Fermina Basquez.

Florentino moved to Caldwell where he made many friends with his burritos and tamales, everyone loved them. Floyd and Ollie enjoyed gardening together, dancing, spending time with family and friends.

Floyd enjoyed farming and ranching in his younger years and loved Hispanic music. His favorite past time was sitting on the front porch, piddling in the yard, going to the Caldwell Senior center and just being with his friends. Floyd never met a stranger.

Florentino was preceded in death by his parents Marcello and Fermina Basquez, his wife Ollie Verdine Basquez, one sister and five brothers.

Florentino is survived by his daughter Maria Basquez Gibson and her husband Benny from Beaumont, grandson John F. Mouton from Houston, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins as well as other relatives and friends.

He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

Serving as pallbearers is Thomas Vasquez, Stephen Vasquez, Paul Vasquez, Moses Luna, Ronny Harrison, and Fred Havel.

Serving as honorary pallbearers John F. Mouton, Inez Martinez, Benny Gibson, and Larry Faust.
