Frances Lucille Sowell

Frances Lucille Sowell, a beloved resident of Somerville, Texas, passed away on November 9, 2023, in Bryan, Texas. She was born on September 25, 1937, in Pontotoc, Mississippi to Merton and Grace Pipkin. She lived in Memphis, Tennessee until 1978 and moved to Houston, Texas.

Frances was a vibrant and spirited individual who loved life to the fullest. She had a deep appreciation for nature and enjoyed spending time outdoors. She had a passion for crappie fishing and could often be found casting her line into the waters of nearby lakes. Gardening was another one of her joys in life; she took great pleasure tending to her beautiful garden. Frances's nurturing spirit extended even further as she delighted in feeding the neighborhood deer, forging a special connection with these gentle creatures.

Family meant everything to Frances, and she cherished the bond she shared with her loved ones. She is survived by Arvie Dulaney, a dear friend who became family through their enduring friendship, her three children Lisa G. Oliver, Walter L. Sowell Jr., and Vicki L. King: her god son Tommy Robinson, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous friends.

A funeral service will be held on November 14, 2023, at 10:00 AM at the Strickland Funeral Home located at 545 8th St in Somerville, Texas. The service will be followed by interment at Oaklawn Cemetery.
