Graveside services for Frances May (Vaughn) Stevens, 91, of Caldwell are set for 1:00, Thursday, September 24th, 2020 at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in La Feria, Texas. Mrs. Stevens passed away peacefully, September 16th, 2020 in Giddings, Texas.
Frances was born May 14, 1929 to Andrew Carroll Vaughn and Annie Lee (McClarty) Vaughn in Forrest Hills, Tennessee. She married Lee R. Stevens on December 28, 1948 in Rio Grande City, Texas.
Frances was a devoted, loving and caring Mother. She was a homemaker and school librarian for 20 years. She enjoyed playing dominoes and working crossword puzzles. She loved to read which probably explained her love of working at the library. One of her favorite things was watching John Wayne movies and the Cowboys play football while having a beer with her husband Lee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew & Annie; husband Lee; son, John Casey Stevens; brother, A.C. Vaughn; and sisters, Dorothy Gentry and Patsy Ruth Gill.
Frances is survived by sons, James W. Stevens, Lee R. Stevens, Jr., Daniel B. Stevens; daughter, Barbara Gayle (Stevens) Prigmore; brother, Charles Leroy Vaughn; grandchildren, Brian Herron, Joseph Ryan Stevens, Jennifer Cockrell, Amy McMurren, James Stevens, Jessica Stevens, Denver Prigmore, Josh Prigmore; great grandchildren, Henry Stevens, Katelyn Herron, Abigail Cockrell, Shawn Ramos, Elizabeth Ramos, Lorelie Rae Prigmore; and numerous other family, loved ones and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that monetary donations be made in Mrs. Stevens’ memory to the Alzheimer's Association by going to www.alz.org or mailing a check to Alzheimer’s Association P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011.
