Frankie Pivonka, 75, of Somerville went to his heavenly home on Friday, January 20. Visitation will be Monday, January 23, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville. Services will be Tuesday, January 24, 10 am at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Frenstat.
Frank was a very intelligent person who graduated as Valedictorian of his class. He attended Blinn College for two years and Sam Houston Till he was called to serve our country. He served two years in Vietnam. Frank was a chemist for the Santa Fe Railroad. He was gifted as a woodcrafter who wanted everything to perfection. Frank was an outdoorsman enjoying camping and fishing and belonged to the rifle club. He loved to barbecue and have friends over. He belonged to the American Legion. He had a three year battle with dementia and fought it as long as his body would allow. The family wants to give a special thank you to The Grace Place for taking such good care of Frank for the last three weeks and Texas Hospice Care.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Starsie Pivonka, brother, Roy Pivonka, James Pivonka, brother-in-law, Ed Smotek.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory stepson, Jay Scott, stepdaughters, Treasure Hoagwood, Alyssa Lentz, sisters, Dorothy Smotek and husband Jerry, Rose Smotek along with numerous nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers are Gene Schiller, Patrick Smotek, Darrell Smotek, Thomas Krenek, Dale Meyer and Bernard Pivonka.
Honorary Pallbearers are Mike Rhodes and Kenneth Smotek.
