Franklin Ondrasek

Funeral services for Franklin Henry Ondrasek, 88, of Caldwell are set for 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Strickland Funeral Home Chapel in Caldwell, with Rev. Vanessa Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow at Masonic Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by VFW Post #4458. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, August 28, 2017 also at the funeral home. Mr. Ondrasek passed away on August 25, 2017 at Copperas Hollow Nursing Center in Caldwell, Texas.

Franklin was born September 12, 1928 in Burleson County, Texas to Joe V. Ondrasek and Rosie M. (Kubena) Ondrasek. He married Joyce Anne (Myers) Ondrasek on October 20, 1950 in Schenectady, New York. He served his country for 28 + years in the United States Air Force; retiring as a Master Sgt.

Franklin was a very active man; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, picking pecans, growing watermelon, corn, green beans, potatoes, tomatoes, and onions in his garden. He liked raising cattle, playing cards, solitaire, dominoes, watching bull riding on television. He and Debbie would travel to Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, Las Vegas, Oklahoma City, and Bossier to watch the bull riding in person. In later years he would visit the casino for fun, a lot.

Franklin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Joyce Ondrasek; daughter, Donna Riley; son, Robert Ondrasek; sisters, Josephine Koeppen, Evelyn Zajicek; and brother, Benjamin Ondrasek.

He is survived by sons, David Ondrasek of New Braunfels, Peter Ondrasek of Deanville; daughter, Deborah Ondrasek of Caldwell; brother, Joseph Ondrasek of Deanville; Sister, Rose Autrey of Caldwell; grandchildren, Kyle Ondrasek and wife Kendra; great grandchildren, Fallyn Anderson, Kylie Ondrasek, both of Deanville.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be given to Caldwell Brethren Christian Sisters or Encompass Hospice.
