Fred Mantey

Fred Urban Mantey, 74 of Kenney, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 5, 2021.

Fred Mantey was born in Burton, Texas on March 11, 1947, to Steve and Lydia Mantey.  Fred was known as Bobe or Uncle Bobe to some. Fred was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Somerville.  He served his country from 1966-1968 and was awarded several medals during his service. Fred married the love of his life, Joan, on November 28, 1970. Together they had three children, Jason, Steven, and Amy.  Fred worked for the railroad for over 35 years.  He enjoyed gardening, farming, fishing, and spending time with family.

Fred was preceded in death by his son Jason Mantey, parents Steve and Lydia (Haarmeyer) Mantey and his five brothers and sister.

He is survived by his wife, Joan (Meissner) Mantey; son, Steven Mantey and special friend Tina Yaple; daughter, Amy Porter and husband Sherman; grandsons, Samuel Porter and Nicolas Porter; family pet, Suggie.

Pallbearers are Clint Mantey, James Mantey, Jerrad Meissner, Kenneth Mantey, Samuel Porter and Sherman Porter.

Honorary Pallbearers are Jimmy Meissner and Nicolas Porter.

Pastor Patricia Dietrich will officiate the funeral service.

Following the funeral service, please join the family for food and fellowship at the Rocky Creek VFD.
