Godfrey Thomas Orbeck

Godfrey Thomas Orbeck, known as “Tom,” passed away on December 19, 2023, in Seguin, Texas. A graveside service will be held to honor Tom's life on Friday, December 22, 2023, at New Tabor Cemetery in Caldwell, Texas. The service will commence at 2:00 PM, with friends and family gathering to pay their final respects.

Tom was born on February 18, 1944, in Chelsea, Massachusetts to Godfrey and Agnes Orbeck. While Tom’s father was in the Navy, his family moved every three years and one year they moved to Texas. When his father retired, the family returned to Minnesota where most of his family lived. Tom followed in his father’s footsteps and joined the Marines. After serving his time in the military, he went back to Minnesota. He decided to move to Texas because he did not like the frigid weather.

A few of Tom’s hobbies were growing roses, reading, dancing, and spending time with the people and animals he loved. He had three chihuahuas that he loved dearly. He was also a member of the Cross Church in Seguin, Texas.

Tom is survived by his wife Clara Orbeck, his brother David Orbeck and wife Cindy, his nephews Jason and Zachary, his stepchildren Danny Seay and long-term companion Rachel, and Terri Krumnow and husband Jim, his step-granddaughters Alyssa Mata, and husband Pedro, Amanda Seay and husband Alex, and a step great-granddaughter Zoe Laurel.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents and his nephew Nickolas.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a local animal shelter in honor of Tom's devotion to his beloved chihuahuas, or to Cross Church in Seguin, Texas. May we carry his memory with us always. Rest in peace, dear Tom.
