James Morris

Services for James Lynn Morris, 70, of Somerville are set for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville. Interment will follow at After All These Years Family Cemetery in Somerville. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 10, 2020 also at the funeral home.

James was born December 20, 1949 to Homer Dewey Morris and Verlene Annie (Moody) Morris in Houston, Texas. He married Deborah on July 3, 2004 in Fort Bend County, Texas.

James enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, BBQing, riding horses, woodworking, playing pool, and spending time with his family and friends, living and being in the country, and walk-a-thons. He was a great listener. He enjoyed listening to Cajun, Jazz and Country Music. He played dice, craps, cards and enjoyed having fun at casinos. He liked taking vacations to Alaska to enjoy the great outdoors. James was dedicated to his work, family and friends. He was a great friend, husband, and father.

James was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Misita (Kummer) Morris of Somerville, TX; son, Kevin Shawn Morris of Montgomery, TX; daughter, Brandi Leigh Diehl and husband Joe of Harris, TX.; step-daughter, Mary Margaret Misita Kollinger and husband Dustin of Deland FL.; brothers, Kenneth Ray Morris and Dennis Wayne Morris, both of Angelina, TX; sister, Wanda Leona Monnin of Harris, TX; grandchildren, Annie Marie Morris, Karissa Nichole Morris, Lain Anthony Morris, Kaleigh Jo Parker, Wyatt Joseph Diehl; step grandchild, Madison Dusenbury; great grandchild, Kenleigh Ann Morris; nieces and nephews, Vernon Ray Morris, Shannon Lee Morris, Triston Morris, Austin Morris, Oliver Wayne Morris, Caitlin Corbit Monnin; and many other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Vernon Ray Morris, Lain Anthony Morris, Kevin Shawn Morris, Joe Diehl, Gavin Lamoreau and Chris McGinn.
