Jesus Gutierrez 52, of Somerville Texas passed suddenly October 14, 2023, at his home. The Family will receive guests from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening October 18th at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Ann’s Catholic Church on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Father Thaddeus Tabak as celebrant. A burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery in Somerville.
Mr. Gutierrez was born December 24, 1970, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida to parents Jaun Pablo Gutierrez and Herminia (Flores) Gutierrez. Jesus married the love of his life Sofia Heredia on May 19, 1994, in Caldwell, Texas. They had dated since she was seventeen and he was 21 so this love had been for over thirty years.
Jesus worked the oil rigs and the petroleum business most of his life starting around 17 years old. He worked as a pipefitter and even a roughneck but mainly doing welding 26 years for Valmont. He was a very hard worker, some of his hobbies were; fishing, cooking, making his own spices and sauces, shooting pool listening to music, joking and especially arguing with his friends and family. His favorite football team was the Pittsburg Steelers. He was also a very good dancer. Some of his favorite dishes to make for his family were seafood and tacos. He also liked to eat fruit and cold milk with ice. Probably his favorite thing to do was spending time with his family and friends.
Jesus was preceded in death by his father Juan Pablo Gutierrez and a daughter, Monica Gutierrez.
He is survived by his loving wife Sofia Gutierrez of Somerville, four sons, Jesus Gutierrez Jr. and wife Morgan of Tomball, TX., Saul Gutierrez of Somerville, TX., Fabian Gutierrez of Seminole, TX., and Michael Farrer of Brenham, a sister, Syndi Gutierrez of Brenham, TX., and a granddaughter, Emiliana Amanda Nicole Rios of Somerville, TX., his mother, Herminia Gutierrez of Somerville, TX., four brothers; Juan Pablo Gutierrez Jr. and wife Norma of Somerville, TX., Richardo Gutierrez and wife Lupe of Seminole, TX., Ramiro Gutierrez and wife Norma of Seminole, TX., and Oscar Gutierrez and wife Hilda of Hobbs, New Mexico.
Serving as pallbearers will be his sons and nephews; Jesus Gutierrez Jr., Saul Gutierrez, Fabian Gutierrez, Ramiro Gutierrez Jr., Adran Gutierrez, and Daniel Gutierrez
