John Michael Amyx, Sr., 85, of Cleveland, TX passed away on March 4, 2021. He was
born on September 2, 1935 in Plainview, TX to Hugh and Grace Amyx.
John was a good, honest man who always did right by his family. He loved his wife,
children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren big and supported all they did. John
was a veteran of both the United States Air Force and the Coast Guard. He was a
graduate of Howard College.
John was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Debra Kathleen Amyx; brothers,
Don Amyx and Bob Amyx. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Lydia Amyx;
children, John Amyx, Jr., Kim Amyx-McMillan (Trey) and David Amyx; grandchildren,
Tabitha Johnson (Cooper), Jonathan Emmons (Holly) and Victoria Paschal (Aden);
great-grandchildren, Levi Johnson, Ty Johnson, Hunter Johnson, Haydin (Big H)
Johnson, Brayden Kennedy, Abigail Emmons, Kassidy Emmons, Aurora Paschal and
Halley Paschal; brother, Walter Amyx; sister, Lynelle Legg; numerous nieces and
nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10,
2021 at Caney Creek Cowboy Church, 17703 Nonesuch Rd., Conroe, TX 77306. A
funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. Graveside services and interment will take
place at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at Houston National Cemetery, 10410
Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, TX 77038.
Levi Johnson, Ty Johnson, Hunter Johnson, John Amyx, Jr., Jonathan Emmons and
Keith Amyx will serve as pallbearers. Haydin Johnson and Brayden Kennedy will serve as honorary pallbearers.
