Johnnie Matcek

Funeral services for Johnnie Louis Matcek, 85, of Caldwell are set for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 10, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Caldwell, with Bro. Steve Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, November 9, 2018, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell.

Johnnie was born August 14, 1933 in Caldwell, Texas to Lugwig Frank Matcek and Minnie (Kazmir) Matcek.

Johnnie lived his entire life in Caldwell and was a very hardworking man. He worked 29 years at the shoe factory in Bryan, Texas until it closed. He also worked 11 years at the Coat Hanger Plant in Caldwell, Texas. His family takes comfort in the knowledge that he now has his perfect body and is at peace with the Lord.

He loved fishing, traveling on bus tours and cruising. Johnnie was a kind and loving man and will be greatly missed.

Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents;and sister, Lillie Mae Brown and brother-in-law, Buddy Brown.

Johnnie is survived by his wife, Barbara (Mullins) Matcek of Caldwell; sons and daughters-in-law, David & Brenda Matcek of Galveston, Kenneth Matcek of Lufkin, Kenneth & Dianne Clark of Magnolia; daughter and son-in-law, Darlene & Lane Tyson of Oakridge; grandchildren, Britian & Garry Smith, Toni Matcek, Alexandria & Jose Ibarra, Matthew Matcek, Robert Tyson, Amanda Tyson, Tyler Clark, Emilee Clark; great grandchildren, Peyton Matcek, Deliah Smith, Luke Smith, Kirt Smith, Atalena Ibarra, Julian Ibarra; niece, Marie & Jim Vickers; nephew, Michael Brown, Sr., his children, Travis, Jared and Laura, and their mother Sherry Brown; great nephew, Michael Brown, II, his wife Melinda, son Logan and step-daughter Kayla Budd.

Pallbearers will be David Matcek, Kenneth Matcek, Kenneth Clark, Lane Tyson, Matthew Matcek, Tyler Clark, Robert Tyson, Mike Brown, Sr.
