Joseph Harris, Jr.

Joseph Harris, Jr., 77, of Somerville passed away on Friday, August 17. A visitation for Mr. Harris will be held on Saturday, August 25 from 10-11am at Community Chapel in Lyons. Service will follow with interment at Sweet Home Cemetery in Somerville.

Joseph Harris, Jr. was born to Mary Jackson and Joseph Harris, Sr. on August 8, 1941 in Natchitoches, LA. Joseph met and married Marion J. Coleman and, in this union, they had three daughters; Win, Patricia and Rosalind. Winifred met and married Clenard Parker (deceased) and they have two children; Michael Parker and Courtney Parker. Michael has two sons; Michael Parker, Jr. and Kaiden Parker. Courtney has one son; Aiden Parker. Rosalind met and married Bruce Washington and they have two sons; Bruce Washington, Jr. and Joseph Washington.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Harris and Mary Jackson; wife, Marion Coleman Harris; sisters, Edith Brown, Essie Mae Roberson; brothers, Willie Jackson and J.D. Jackson.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory daughters, Winifred Parker, Patricia Harris, Rosalind Washington and husband Bruce; sister, Bessie Jackson; grandchildren, Michael Parker, Courtney Parker, Bruce Washington, Jr., Joseph Washington; great-grandchildren, Aiden Parker, Michael Parker, Jr., Kaiden Parker along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Rishad Hunter, Clifford Moore, Jr., Brandon Moore, Devin Coleman, Derrick Coleman and Bruce Washington, Jr.

Honorary pallbearers are Donnie Coleman, Clifford Moore, Sr., Rickey Jackson, Kenneth Jackson, Bruce Washington, Sr. and Michael Parker.
