Joseph Kudlacek

A Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph Frank “Big Joe” Kudlacek, 87, of Somerville has been set for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Frenstat, with Fr. Bernard Hung officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 16, 2019 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited by Deacon John Young at 7:00 p.m., at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell. Mr. Kudlacek went to be with our Lord on April 12, 2019 in Brenham, Texas surrounded by his loving family.

Joseph was born October 20, 1931 to Joe Henry Kudlacek and Frances (Urban) Kudlacek in LaGrange, Texas. He married Marie Chernosky on March 2, 1957 in La Grange, Texas.

He loved to hunt and fish and spend time with his family. He was known for his story telling and liked to work with his hands building bird feeders, wind chimes, and squirrel feeders. He always enjoyed smoking meats and having a good BBQ, while enjoying a cigar.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents.

Joseph is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marie (Chernosky) Kudlacek of Somerville; son, Stephen Ray Kudlacek of Somerville; daughter, Beatrice Ann Kudlacek of Katy; grandchildren, Crystal Lang, Dennis Machacek, Brittani Matos; great grandchildren, Bodie Lang, Hunter Lang, Gabriel Matos, Camilla Matos, and many other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Lloyd Wallin, Gary Quinton, Kory Holmes, David Gregory, Frankie Gaertner, Ronnie Holub, Dennis Machacek and Bill Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Bodie Lang, Hunter Lang, Gabriel Matos, Jessie Gaertner, and Howard Kimball.
