Kenneth Newton Belote, age 88, of Caldwell, passed away on February 25, 2024. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, February 28, at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church on February 29, at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Prairie Dale Cemetery in Caldwell, TX.
Kenneth was born in Lufkin, Texas on June 9, 1935, to parents Jacob Newton Belote and Arrabelle Webb Belote. The family later moved to Galena Park where Kenneth graduated from Galena Park High School. He served for two years in the US Army. After his return, he continued his employment at ARMCO Steel in Houston, where he retired after 30 years. Kenneth enjoyed his job as a maintenance supervisor and made many lifelong friendships. Kenneth was a hard worker and always had a job on the side to keep himself busy.
On September 14,1962, Kenneth was united in marriage to Gwendolyn “Gwen” Skipper. They celebrated 61 years together prior to Kenneth’s passing. They enjoyed traveling together and spending time with family. In their later years their favorite pastime was sitting on the porch drinking coffee while watching the birds and the deer. Kenneth was a dedicated family man and “Paw Paw” to his grandchildren.
Kenneth was very artistically talented and took up woodworking and making stained glass. He enjoyed the intricacies and details of his work and was very proficient with his hobbies. Many people in Kenneth’s life received a piece of his handiwork as a treasured gift.
Kenneth was a dedicated Christian and was devoted to his church. His faith was a guiding force in his life and his love for the Lord Jesus Christ shined brightly in his life.
Kenneth is survived by his loving wife Gwen; son Dean and wife Kirsten; grandchildren Bethany, Natalie, and Daniel; siblings Linda Decker and husband Rad, Dennis Belote and wife Kim, Judy Highfield and husband Norman, David Belote, Cathy Reese and husband Billy; niece Brenda, and many other beloved nieces and nephews.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Johnny Belote.
Pallbearers will be: Rad Decker, Dennis Belote, Billy Reese, David Belote, Norman Highfield, Keith Crim, Ryan Snodgrass, Scott Snodgrass, and Daniel Belote.
The Honorary Pallbearer is Kenneth’s longtime friend Mike Snodgrass.
