Lauren Evans

Lauren Elizabeth Evans, 32, of Somerville departed on October 28, 2021.  Visitation is set for Thursday, November 4, 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville.  Funeral Services will be Friday, November 5, 1:00pm at the Yegua Center with burial to follow at Smetana Cemetery in Bryan.

Raised in Somerville, Lauren attended Somerville High School and graduated from Dime Box High School in 2007.  Lauren suffered from juvenile rheumatoid arthritis beginning at 16 months of age making life very difficult and requiring many serious surgeries.  This disease never allowed her to perform at a complete level. Despite her hardships, she found teaching to help other young people to cope with adversity. Lauren provided a positive outlook with hope of a better future to many students at the Somerville schools.  She touched her students lives in many ways. At the time of her death, she was still teaching and impacting students daily.  Lauren’s life also focused on being the best mother possible.  Despite many disabling surgeries she made the best of her family bond, loving and cooking for her children every day.  They were LOVED!

Lauren is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Frank and Lillie Jones and paternal grandfather, Dean Evans.

Lauren is survived by her father and stepmother, Jim and Sheri Evans; mother and stepfather, Paula and Paul Huddleston; children, Payton Alexis Johnson, Logan James Evans; sisters, Jennifer Kovasovic and husband Dan, Amy Hoffman; brothers, Chance Evans, Paul Huddleston and wife Kate; nieces and nephews, Gabby Kovasovic, Emma Kovasovic, Aubrey Kovasovic, Milani Roberson, Malik Roberson, Joseph Huddleston, Charles Huddleston, Elizabeth Huddleston; grandmother, Joy McCallum; numerous Uncles, Aunts, Payton’s Paternal Grandmother, Deborah Johnson and all of her beloved students.
