Lynda Lorraine (Baumgartner) Benignus was born in Houston, TX on March 28, 1931, to parents Albert and Theresa Lynda (Kaiser) Baumgartner. She grew up in the Houston area and graduated from Spring High School. On July 5, 1949, Lorraine married the love of her life Everett William Benignus. They shared a deep love and commitment to one another for 73 wonderful years. Lorraine was a loving and devoted wife, mom, and later a very proud grandmother (“Nanny”) to her grandkids. She had a special place in her heart for her great-grandkids as well.
The most important thing in Lorraine’s life was her love for God. Her faith manifested in her constant love and care for others. She was devoted to her family and showed her love by praying for them constantly, helping and serving them however she could, and baking them her delicious homemade bread. Her mission in life was to teach her family to love the Lord as she did. Lorraine was a lifelong Christian and her faith was a constant guiding force in her life.
Lorraine and Everett enjoyed going fishing together. Lorraine played a mean game of spades, and a meaner game of dominoes (80 was her favorite). They always kept a garden and Lorraine enjoyed having fresh tomatoes from the plants that Everett lovingly tended for her. Lorraine left an amazing legacy of love and generosity. She will be deeply missed by her family, but we are rejoicing knowing that she is in her new Heavenly home.
Lorraine is survived by her loving husband Everett; their children Clayton (wife Pei-Lan) Benignus, Robin Woods (husband Douglas), Angela Burns (husband Nate); grandchildren Dwight Benignus, Elissa Woods (husband Dylan Battard), Rebecca Beckham (husband Jon); her precious and deeply loved great-grandchildren Allison Lorraine Battard, Simon Atlas Beckham, Beatrix Rhein Beckham; niece Kim Appel and husband Phillip, nephew Mike Winslow and wife Vera.
Serving as pallbearers will by Douglas Woods, Nate Burns, Dwight Benignus, Dylan Battard, Jon Beckham, and Phillip Appel. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Winslow, Anthony Barth
