Lois Bourgeois

May 29, 1931 — April 25, 2017

Lois Janice Bourgeois, 85, of Caldwell, Texas, passed into her Heavenly home surrounded by her loving family on April 25, 2017 in Bryan, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell, TX. Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m.

Lois was born at home in Nevada, Texas on May 29, 1931. She spent much of her younger days along side her 9 siblings working the family farm. She graduated from Copeville Public School in 1945.

After meeting at a grocery store in Dallas, Texas, on Lovers Lane, Lois and her husband, Lester Bourgeois, knew it was love at first sight. Since that day, the two were inseparable, marrying on April 4, 1952. A love story that has inspired many, Lois and Lester celebrated their 65th anniversary together earlier this month.

Residing in many cities throughout Texas, they settled in League City for over 30 years, before relocating to Caldwell, Texas twelve years ago to once again enjoy small-town life.

After raising four children, Lois returned to work as a Child Nutrition Specialist for Clear Creek School District where she worked for over fifteen years. Retiring in her fifties, she had the opportunity to enjoy her favorite past times; traveling, gardening, and most importantly spending time with her family.

Faith and love were the foundation of their beautiful marriage that was instrumental in raising their four children and instilling Christian values in generations to come. Lois, lovingly known as "Nannie" by her grandchildren, and Lester "Pawpaw", were members of Calvary Baptist Church in Caldwell, Tx.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd and Lillian Jones, her son Oliver Burgess, her daughter Carolyn Prescot, her sisters Madge Hodges, Hazel Steel, Gladys Foster, Mollie Jones, Doris Dyess, Jeanette Beasley, and her brother Lloyd Jones Jr.

She is survived by her husband Lester, two sisters Nita Benningfield and Linda Saling, her daughters Jean Barrett and Rhonda Andricks, 18 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren, and 30 great-great grandchildren
