Lynn Dunn

Funeral services for Lynn Dunn, 71, of Lyons are set for 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 27, 2018, at the Burleson County Cowboy Church in Caldwell, with Bro. Harvey Abke officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Somerville. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell. Mr. Dunn passed from this world on April 23, 2018 at his home in Lyons surrounded by his family.

Lynn was born February 27, 1947 to Solon James Dunn and Elouise Elizabeth (Beck) Dunn in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Throughout his life, he lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Abilene, Texas and also Lyons, Texas. He was a member of the Burleson County Cowboy Church since 2012 and played in the BCCC Band, Amazing Grace . He was very patriotic and served his country bravely in the United States Army during Desert Storm. He served in the Air Force for 12 years, the Army for 15 and retired after 27 years in military service; reaching the rank of Sgt. First Class. Later in life he worked for the First Technology Services and retired in 2012. He enjoyed fishing, camping and hunting in the mountains. His favorite pastime was spending time with his grandkids and playing his guitar.

Lynn was preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law, John Towndrow.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy (Galloway) Dunn of Lyons; sons and daughter-in-law, Greg Dunn of Houston, Texas, Justin & Angelynn Dunn of Bryan,Texas; brother and sister-in-law Lester & Linda Dunn of Gravette, Arkansas; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lois & Jim Abercrombie of Union Grove, Alabama, Loretta & Bradley York of Tijeras, New Mexico, Lavina Towndrow of Albuquerque, New Mexico; grandchildren, Ashley Dunn, Matthew Dunn, Rebecca Dunn, Atlas Dunn, Everly Dunn, Jayce Dunn; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and his whittling buddy, Gage Sodolak.

Pallbearers will be Michael Oatman, Paul Sodolak, Brian Sodolak, Mike Tolopka, James Gray and Patrick Watts.

Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 159 from Bryan, Texas.

Memorial may be sent to the Burleson County Cowboy Church, Caldwell, Texas or Burleson County Relay for Life.
