Funeral services for Mabel Haddox, 93, of Somerville, will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 12, 2019, at First Lutheran Church in Somerville with Reverend Skip Stutts officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Somerville.
Mabel was born on September 28, 1925, in Somerville, to Willie W. and Anita Hueske Neinast.
After graduating from Somerville High School and Durham's Business College in Houston in 1944, she worked in the Harris County Sheriff's office and for United Gas Pipeline Company.
Mabel returned to Somerville in 1962 to help manage her Dad's business (Neinast Market and Grocery Store). After selling the business, she was employed with Texas A&M University in the Soil and Crops Department as a Technical Assistant until retiring in 1983.
On August 12, 1978, Mabel and Clyde (C.W.) Haddox were united in marriage in the First Lutheran Church of Somerville.
Mabel was a faithful member of that church. She was baptized thereon November 5, 1925, and confirmed on September 8, 1940. Mabel was Chair Person of the Memorial Fund for several years for the church.
She was also the Red Hat Society of Somerville.
She was preceded in death by her husband on December 22, 1999; her parents; and her sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Fred Delaney.
Mabel is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Jeannine Neinast of Burton; her niece and her husband, Anita and Doug Cunningham of Austin; her nephews and their wives, Steven and Vera Neinast of Austin, Mark and Karen Neinast of Midland, and Will and Cindy Neinast of Dallas; and six great-nephews; and three great-nieces.
Memorials for Mabel may be given to the First Lutheran Church of Somerville or to a charity of your choice.
