Margaret Costa Meister, affectionately known to all as Ditsey, departed this world peacefully in her home on August 24, 2024, at the age of 89. Born on March 5, 1935, in Houston, Texas she carried with her a love for family that defined her life.
Ditsey was a woman of remarkable warmth and devotion to her loved ones. Her husband, Wilfrid, was not just her partner but her confidant and support throughout their 70 years of marriage. Their love created a foundation upon which a beautiful family was built. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Kathy (Buddy), along with her cherished sons, Mike (Susan), Doug (Laurie), and Chris. Each of her children held a special place in her heart, teaching them the values of love, kindness, and togetherness that she held dear.
As a grandmother, Ditsey’s heart swelled with pride for her grandchildren: Joey, Torrey, Chloe, and Max and her great-grandchildren; Leslie, Natalie, Julian, Gabe, Nate, Claire, and Kate they were the light of her life, and she devoted countless hours creating memories with them. Particularly through her legendary Christmas cookies, which became a treasured tradition that they eagerly anticipated each year. Friends and family alike eagerly awaited her seasonal treats, making it apparent that her culinary delights were not just food, but expressions of her love.
Her passions went beyond family; she was an artist at heart with a talent for quilting. She was part of various quilting organizations and her family is blessed to have items that she made for keepsakes. In her passing we remember the laughter, lessons, and love that Ditsey so effortlessly imparted to everyone she encountered. As we gather to celebrate her life, we invite all who knew her to join us for visitation at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville, Texas, on Friday, August 30, 2024, from 4pm – 6pm, followed by a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held the following day, Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 10am at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, followed by her burial at the church cemetery in Frenstat.
Margaret Costa Meister was a genuine soul who left an indelible mark on the hearts of many. Her legacy of love, family, and kindness will forever remain with those who had the privilege to know her.
