Marilyn Welch, 83, of Somerville went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, April 17, 2019. Service will be Friday, April 26, 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Somerville.

Marilyn was born on March 22, 1936 in Somerville, Texas. She married Gene Welch in May of 1953 and was the Mother of Michael Gene, Charles Anthony, Bob Allen and Wendy. Mother-in-law to Stacie Welch and Mindy Welch; sister-in-law to Jann Harper. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren, Amanda Inglehart and husband Tanner, Jason Welch, Emily Welch, Marilyn Welch, Josh Welch, Sean Fall, Cory Fall, Zachary Magnuson, Hannah Magnuson Pierson and husband Curtis, Autumn Magnuson, James Welch, Misty Welch Wolf, Meagan Welch Scanlon and husband Kelly, Beau Welch, Great-grandchildren, Cesili Inglehart, Grace Inglehart, Evie Inglehart, Jillian Inglehart, Kyle Inglehart, Gregory Fall, William Pierson, Vivian Pierson, Brenden Wolf, Cortney Wolf, Savannah Scanlon and Rilee Scanlon; nieces Angeline Harper Escamilla and Claudette Harper Brown; nephews, Scott Welch and Rodger Welch..

Marilyn was above anything else a devoted Christian, she served the Lord her entire life. Marilyn was a member of the First Baptist Church, for over 65 years, where she had many jobs. The one she held the longest was church Pianist, filling the church with her amazing talent. She was a good and faithful attendant.

She served her community by playing for various functions and anytime she got a call saying a pianist was needed she accepted graciously.

She opened a nursery in her home inn 1969. She kept many children over the years and loved each one. Marilyn also worked at the Brenham State School for 10 years. She also worked at the tax office and the Somerville Jr. High.

Marilyn was a devoted wife and mother. She was married to Gene Welch for 65 years. Family was the thing she held dearest to her heart. Her greatest joy was when her family was all together. She loved to cook and was her happiest when she was feeding people. Marilyn had such a giving heart; she was always willing to help anyone that needed it.

Marilyn has left behind a remarkable legacy of strength, rhythm and joy. The world will forever be a little dimmer without her warm smile that radiated her love for the Lord and all of his works.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, William Kermit Harper and Grace Lee (Brantley) Harper; husband and love of her life, Gene Welch; two sons, Mike Welch, Charles Welch; grandson, Josh Welch; brother, Kermit Lee Harper along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.

Memorials can be made in Marilyn’s honor to the First Baptist Church of Somerville.
