Marvin Roehling

Services for Marvin Lee “Monk” Roehling, 82, of Houston are set for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville, with Pastor Skip Stutts officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Somerville. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2019 also at the funeral home. Monk passed away peacefully, Sunday, November 24, 2019 at his residence.

Monk was born October 2, 1937 to Gustav and Elvira “Ella” Drews Roehling in Washington County, Texas

On August 17, 1957 he married the love of his life, Leona “Sis” Mantey in Somerville, Texas. Monk enjoyed hunting, fishing, gambling, sitting on the porch with family having a cold brew and weekly meetings at “the office”.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gustav and Elvira “Ella” Drews Roehling; wife Leona “Sis” Roehling; sisters, Rosa Lee Belcher, Bernice Raines, Lenora Roehling and Irene Steinbach; brothers Reuben Roehling, Melvin Roehling and Gustav Roehling, Jr.

Monk is survived by sons, Ronnie & Rebecca Roehling of Cypress, Billy Roehling of Houston, Marvin & Debbie Roehling of Brenham; sister Elenora Riley; grandchildren, Russell Roehling, Rachel & Brian Adams, Michelle & Jon Hodde, Ryan Roehling, Brett & Maci Roehling; great grandchildren, Conway and Leona Adams, Elliott Hodde, and Brenlee Roehling.

Pallbearers will be Brian Adams, Jon Hodde, Darvin Lee Mantey, Brett Roehling, Russell Roehling and Ryan Roehling. Honorary pallbearers are the crew from “the office”.
