Mary Evelin (Ondrasek) Schubert, 87, went to be with her Lord on September 25,2020. Funeral services will be held at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville on Tuesday, September 29th at 10 a.m., with a visitation on Monday, September 28th from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Burial will be at the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Lyons. Brother Gary Sanford will officiate.
Evelin, as she was known to friends and family, was born in Lyons, Texas to Jan J. Ondrasek and Frances Surovik Ondrasek on October 24, 1932. After graduating from Somerville High School, she moved to Houston and went to work for AT&T. She married Chester Stone in 1966. After Chester's death and retiring from AT&T she married Hugo Schubert in 1976 and returned to Lyons. While living in Lyons she went to work for Texas A&M University. She retired from A&M and spent her retirement years visiting with her family, traveling, working in her yard, and attending plays with family at the local community theatre. She was an active member of her church Lyons First Baptist where she served on the kitchen committee, took attendance and collected the Sunday School offerings, and helped with VBS.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Chester Stone and Hugo Schubert; her brother and sisters and their spouses; Johnny (Leona) Ondrasek, Frances (Loren) Thomas, Vince Ondrasek, Delphine (Alfred) Oropesa, Lillian (E. C. "Crit") Gaines, Jr., Ruth (Tom) Williams, Annie (Wade) Nordan, Robert (Betty) Ondrasek, and Loretta (Hank)Bergman.
She is survived by her children Kristine Schultz, Saundra Martin, Lawrence Stone, and David (Lindy)Stone. Grandchildren Robert (Laura)Schultz, Anthony Schultz, Daniel (Stacie)Martin, Christopher (Genny)Martin, Scott Martin, Tracy (Jeff) Burnett, Adam Stone, Jason (Kim)Stone, and Katrina (Donald)Whitworth. Also, many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews too numerous to list.
Pallbearers will be Jason Bergman, John Bergman, Lincoln Smith, Wayne Fusion, Skip Reagan, and Christy Beard. Randal Gaines, Thomas Ondrasek, Eddie Hurst, Charles Robert Ondrasek, and Steven Kelly will act as honorary pallbearers.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lyons First Baptist Church.
