Mavis Suehs

Services for Mavis Loucille (Heine) Suehs, 87, of Caldwell are set for 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 3, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Deanville, with Pastor Karen Nelson officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell. Mrs. Suehs passed away on July 30, 2017 in Caldwell, Texas.

Mavis was born June 24, 1930 to William Heine and Clara (Maass) Heine in Birch, Texas

Mavis was very active in her church, St. John’s Lutheran Church in Deanville. She served on various boards and participated in activities while being very active in the PTA while in Houston. She was the owner operator for 15 years of Peaches n Gifts in Caldwell. She was also active in the Kolache Festival for many years and enjoyed playing Bingo and making ceramics. Active service was a significant part of her life.

Mavis was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Suehs; two brothers, John and Wilbert Heine; four sisters, Louine Brinkmann, Vivian Berlin, Celesta Hatcher, and Geraldine Wiederhold.

She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Forrest & Susan Suehs of Spring, Texas, Dr. Derrick & Audrey Suehs of Jamesville, New York; daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly & Alan Gunderson of Waller, Texas, Clarice & David Key of Cypress, Texas, Judythe & Dr. Dwayne Collins of Conway, Arkansas; brothers-in-law, Otto Wiederhold of Houston, Texas, JD Suehs of Caldwell, Texas; sister, Aliene Barrier of Arlington, Texas; sister-in-law, Esther Heine of Taylor, Texas; grandchildren, William Gunderson, Kelly Barker, Bradley Suehs, Christian Suehs, Deanna Cameron, Craig Suehs, Erich Suehs, Seth Collins, Kyle Gunderson, Courtney McInnis, Ashley Bray, Zachary Collins, Kay Collins; 26 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Active pallbearers will be the grandchildren; honorary pallbearers will be R.J. Smith, John Smith, Chris Smith, Roy Franklin Havemann, and members of the Burleson County Hospital Board.

The family suggests memorials be given to St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery Fund.
