Funeral services for Elton Gerald “Mr. Red” Beaird, 92, of Caldwell are set for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell, with Bro. Geoff Lightsey officiating. Interment will follow at Cooks Point Methodist Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 17, 2019 also at the funeral home. Mr. Beaird passed away December 15th, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loved ones.

Elton was born May 3, 1927 to Arthur S. Beaird and Zell (Burnett) Beaird in Lufkin, Texas. He married Mary Belle Turner on June 17, 1950 at Calvary Baptist Church in Lufkin, Texas.

Elton enlisted in the United States Army on March 27, 1948 where he served during the Korean Conflict. While serving in Korea, he would send his checks home to his family and countless letters of concern for his family. He was a very caring and compassionate person. Elton was a member of the American Legion Post, # 451.

Elton enjoyed playing dominoes and golf. He also loved watching football, other sports, Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune, and NCIS. He loved his family dearly and was considered a great source of advice.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Belle Beaird; grandson, Christopher Ryan Bertelsen; brothers, Vernon Clark Beaird and Byron Lynn Beaird.

Elton is survived by his son Richard Gayle Beaird of Austin, Texas; daughters, April Pinales of Caldwell, Texas, Sherri Bertelsen and husband Jeff of Coldspring, Texas, Bonnie Loehr of Caldwell, Texas; brother, Mike Beaird of Sun City, Texas; sisters, Joy Lancaster of San Antonio, Texas, Jo Ann Bain and husband Bill of Coldspring, Texas; grandchildren, Jason Bertelsen, Sarah White, Ashley Pinales, Lindsey Loehr, Lauren Loehr; great grandchildren, Ava Bertelsen, Macy Browning, Wyatt Browning, Justin Bertelsen, Logan Bertelsen, Parker Graves, Noah Powell; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Special thanks to his care lovers: Marie Shivers, Yolanda Wright, Sharkon Wright, Quindesha Brown, Kendrick Pittman, Kennetra Hewitt, Mauriette Shivers, and LaShanna Dickerson.

Pallbearers will be Jason Bertelsen, Sharkon Wright, Landon Couch, Odis Galbreath, Gary Clayton, and Jeff Bertelsen.

The family suggests memorials be made to Encompass Hospice.
