Patsy Tinklenberg

February 18, 1938 — January 6, 2020

Patsy June Tinklenberg, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend passed from this life to her heavenly home on Monday, January 6, 2020 at home with her husband, Mel, at her side following a brief bout with aggressive cancer.

Patsy June Jeffrey was born on February 18, 1938 in Merkel, Texas to Julia Agnes (Perkins) Jeffrey and Walter Herman Jeffrey. It's a miracle Pat survived birth since she was three months premature in rural Texas back in the 1930's. Thankfully, Pat's grandmother, Rachel Perkins, was there to save her while the doctor worked to save her mother. Pat was the older sister to Vonita Ruth Jeffrey and Joe Dearl Jeffrey. She attended Sweetwater High School in Sweetwater, Texas. She married Frank Morphis at age 16 and had two children, Deborah and Kenneth. That marriage ended in 1967. She remarried Russell Eliot Williams and together they had Robert and Rebekah. She was the step-mother for his two children, Debbie and Rusty.

Pat worked in the insurance industry in Big Spring, Texas for several years and was active in an insurance women’s sorority. She ultimately moved to Katy, Texas, where she and her husband, Eliot, raised Kenneth, Deborah, Robert, and Rebekah. She was the office manager of Mavor-Kelly for a number of years until she and Eliot formed their own automobile appraisal business, National Appraisal Service.

In 1993, she and Eliot moved to an idyllic log cabin near Lake Somerville (where they had taken their family water skiing for many years) and quickly became active at First United Methodist Church. During the years there, she served in a variety of leadership positions in the church. She was a part of the Emmaus Community and was an active volunteer, most recently as one of the Directors of SAAM (Somerville Area Assistance Ministries). Pat was widowed in 1997.

In 2002, Pat met a “winter Texan” from Minnesota, Mel Tinklenberg, and struck up a friendship. In 2003, Mel came back to Texas with a plan to win her heart. He succeeded, and they were married July 11, 2004.

Pat was an accomplished seamstress. She loved gardening and watching her hummingbirds. She loved her family and was an amazing mom, grandmother and great-grandmother. She came from a long line of strong-willed women and has passed that trait on to her heirs. Most of all, she loved the Lord, and her life was a reflection of that love above all. She will be sorely missed, and yet we know that she has been healed and received into the arms of our loving Lord.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Vonita, her late husband, Eliot, and his son, Rusty. Pat is survived by her husband, Mel Tinklenberg, and her children and their spouses: Ken and Jen Morphis of Kingwood, Deborah and Brian Hawbolt of Atascocita, Debbie and Rusty Braun of Willis, Robert Williams of Sugar Land, and Rebekah and David Calabuig of

Pflugerville, as well as her brother and his spouse, Joe and Siri Jeffrey of Sugar Land. She also leaves a legacy of 11 grandchildren: Matthew, Adam and Tyler Braun, Michael Proctor, Laura Proctor Bull, Hailey Morphis, Ryan and Sean Williams, and David, Simon and Rachel Calabuig. Also, 8 great-grandchildren to date: Landon, Kailey and Allie Braun, Olivia and Ella

Bull, and Gavyn, Trenyn, and Jaxyn Braun.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Somerville, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: First United Methodist Church, Somerville and/or Somerville Area Assistance Ministries.
