Persis Johnson

Persis Johnson, 75 of Caldwell passed away peacefully, Saturday, August 20, 2016 in Caldwell. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the New Tabor Brethren Church with Pastor David Johnson officiating. The burial will take place at a later date in upstate New York. The family will receive guests Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home.
Persis was born August 7, 1941 in Plattsburg, New York to parents Floyd Griswold and Lucy (Rubert) Griswold. She spent many years as a bookkeeper. She was an avid reader, loved bowling, and dressing up as a witch for Halloween. She was very active at New Tabor Brethren Church and Adult Sunday School Class as well as the Senior Luncheons. In her recent years she became very active with Face Book, bingo, and enjoyed having her nails painted. She also was a very informed Political follower and very Patriotic.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and her 3 sisters, Bernice Collins, Esther Shirk, and Cleda Smith.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her loving family her son, Robert Grauel and wife D'Anka of San Antonio, TX., two daughters, Cathleen Schlechte and husband Robert of Caldwell, TX., Donna Stone and husband Joseph of Acworth, GA and a step-daughter, Sharain Clark of Saranack, NY., eight grandchildren, Michael Weisenberger, Nicholas Schlechte, Mikalina Hobson, Brittany Jasper, Brandi Grauel, Brady Grauel, Jonathan Stone, and Zachary Stone and also by two great-granddaughters, Kaylee Weisenberger and Zoey Schlechte, other relatives, church family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Michael Weisenberger, Nicholas Schlechte, Brittany Jasper, Brandi Grauel, Brady Grauel, and Michael Kill.
