Raymond Zboril

March 3, 1927 — April 29, 2022

Caldwell, TX

Raymond Zboril, age 95, passed away on April 29, 2022.

Visitation with the family will be on Thursday, May 5, at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell, starting at 5pm. The rosary will be recited at 7pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dime Box, on Friday, May 6, at 10am. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery.

Raymond Walter Zboril was born on March 3, 1927, in Deanville, Texas to parents Pete and Mary (Prazak) Zboril. He was one of nine children. He grew up on the family ranch and learned the importance of hard work and family values from an early age. Soon after turning 18 years old, he was drafted into the US Army where he spent time in Germany during WWII.

Soon after his return home, he asked Miss Adele Supak to the movies, and a few years later in 1950, they were married. He farmed in Deanville until he went to work for Alcoa in 1957.

He retired from Alcoa in 1987, however he never stopped working on the ranch. He enjoyed time spent on the ranch tending to his cattle, bees, and garden. He loved baling hay, hunting, fishing, and anything else that involved being outdoors. In fact, the only thing he  really enjoyed being inside for was his wife’s delicious cooking and a good game of 42. Raymond also enjoyed trips to the Caldwell Auction Barn and could often be found there on Wednesdays visiting with friends.  In recent years, he handed over the reins of the ranch to his two grandsons but continued to be there to lend a helping hand and make sure the boys weren’t forgetting anything.

Raymond was a loving and dedicated family man. The most important things in life were his faith, his family and his ranch. He was a man of great character and never had a bad word to say about anyone. Although he was typically a quiet man, he was very wise, and when he did speak, it was well worth listening. He set an example of what it means to be tough, hardworking and honest, leaving a legacy for his family of what they all strive to be.

Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Adele (Supak); son Terry Zboril and wife Jeanette; grandsons Bo Ray Zboril and wife Kellie, Casey Wayne Zboril and wife Ashley; his cherished great-grandchildren Macey, Wyatt, Cayden, and Rylan; brother Jerry Zboril, sisters Vlasta Mitchell and Martha Burns.

Raymond is preceded in death by his parents; his son Gary and infant sons Jimmy and Timmy; his siblings Joe, Ernest, Frank, Willie, and Milady Poehl.

Pallbearers will be Darrell Burns, Floyd Burns, Carl Herrmann, Renny Kocurek, John Muzny, Bradley Suehs, Kevin Supak, Fritz Wolz, and A.J. Zboril. Honorary Pallbearers are Marty Burns, Melvin Marek, Bennie Supak and Jerry Zboril.
