Ruby Frances Knesek, 92, of Harmony area passed peacefully at her home, Friday, January 1, 2021. A graveside service will be held January 8, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. at Allbright Cemetery near the Harmony Community with Rev. Rick Mitchell officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 7, 2021 from noon-7:00 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell. Her family will be present from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Ruby was born October 9, 1928 in Benchley, Texas to parents Joe Jurek and Frances (Kachtik) Jurek.
Ruby was a homemaker by trade but enjoyed many hobbies and interests. She enjoyed gardening and canning. Ruby loved to cook, especially for her family. There was not a time that she didn’t have a meal prepared or could whip something up when you visited her. Other hobbies included sewing, fishing and cutting rocks. Ruby was a loving person and especially loved animals. Mamaw Ruby, as she was known to her grandkids and great grandkids, was the epitome of a grandmother. She absolutely loved and adored her grandkids and great grandkids. She had a hand in raising all of them and she would not have had it any other way. Ruby was a Life Member of of New Tabor SPJST and Harmony Baptist Church..
She was preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers: Joe Paul Jurek, Albert Jurek, Dalmer Jurek, Nelton Benton, J.C. Benton and John Benton, and a sister, Leola Gates.
Ruby is survived by her loving family, 3 sons, David Ray Knesek and wife Brenda of Caldwell, TX, Charles Knesek of Deanville, TX, and Leonard Knesek of Harmony; a sister, Anita Garner of Rockdale, TX; 4 grandchildren: David Ashley Knesek & wife Renee, Billie Ray Knesek & wife Becky, Amber Owen & husband Ivar, and Rachel Knesek; 7 great grandchildren: Trevor, Garrett, Logan and Macy Knesek; Aaron, Casey and Addy Owen; also by numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
Serving as pallbearers are David Ashley Knesek, Billie Ray Knesek, Amber Owen, Rachel Knesek, Garrett Knesek, Macy Knesek and Logan Knesek. Honorary pallbearers are Trevor Knesek, Aaron Owen, Casey Owen, Addy Owen, Douglas Schoppe, Curtis Schoppe, Quincy Berka, Antone Schrader, Marvin Worthington and Rex Tyson.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts can be given to the Hospice Brazos Valley Brenham or Bryan locations.
