Sidney Beckman

Sidney Ann Davis Beckman was born on March 2, 1942, to Sidney William Davis and Coralie Byrd Davis in Houston. She met her husband, John Beckman, at a high school dance.  They had three daughters and moved to Somerville in 1976.  When they came to town Sidney got involved in the community; she helped with numerous school organizations and community projects.  Sidney was one of the founding members of the Somerville Historical Society.  Some of her favorite activities included belonging to the Red Hat Society and playing Bunco with her friends.  She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved her family.  Sidney was also known for her ability to speak her truth, whether you wanted to hear it or not.  She will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.

Sidney was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Enno Beckman; brother, Danny Davis; sister, Ruth Elledge and Sue Davis.

She is survived by her daughters, Carole Beckman Bishop and husband Bob, Valerie Beckman, Lori Roth and husband Mark; grandchildren, Jamie Leigh Ford, Jenni Lynn Junek, Jodie Lenae Junek, Jared Lee Junek, John Edward Egan, Zachary Wayne Bishop, Amanda Michelle Church, Cameron Diana Bishop, Kayleigh Elyse Beckman and husband Stephen Mikeska; twelve great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Stephen Mikeska, Bob Bishop, Travis Roth, James Keith, Orenthal Lauderdale and Terrance Bell.

Honorary Pallbearers are John Pinkerton, Mark Roth, Roland Junek, Taylor Tuck, Steven Floyd and Clay Griffin.

Memorials can be made to a charity of your choice.
