Stephen Ray Courtney, 49, of Caldwell, TX, passed away on Friday, August 13, 2021 at CHI St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bryan, TX. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at 11:00 am at St. Mary Our Lady of the Lourdes Catholic Church with Deacon John Young officiating. The Visitation will held Monday, August 23, 2021 from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, the family will be present from 6-8:00 pm at Strickland Funeral Home.
Stephen was born on December 22, 1971 in Nuremberg, Germany to Ernest Lee Courtney and Roberta Lee (Luckie) Courtney.
Stephen grew up in Caldwell, TX and graduated from Caldwell High School in 1990. He went on to earn his Journeyman and Master Electrician licenses. He met the love of his life, Cheryl Ann Louviere in 1994 and they were married on May 10, 1997. They welcomed two daughters, Caitlyn Paige Courtney and Brianna Rae Courtney, in 1998 and 2001. After long careers at Weavers Refrigeration, Britt Rice Electric, Scott and White, and Dailey Electric. Steve co-founded CC Electric in 2016, as well as Courtney Electric in 2019 with his brother Keith Wayne Courtney.
Steve enjoyed supporting his daughter’s sports activities, competing in cook-offs, snow skiing and snowboarding, playing with his nieces and nephews, playing pasture volleyball, hunting, fishing, traveling, boating, and giving to others. He was a spiritual leader for the people who were in his life and devoted his time and money to help others. He would drop all he was doing just to make someone’s day or help them out. Steve was extremely dedicated to his community and the organizations he loved.
Stephen is predeceased by his grandparents George and Doris Courtney and Robert and Ruby Luckie. He is survived by his best friend and wife of 24 years, Cheryl Ann Louviere Courtney, daughter Caitlyn Paige Courtney, daughter Brianna Rae Courtney, parents Ernest and Roberta Courtney, brother Keith Courtney and wife Jessica, brother-in-law Eric Louviere and wife Vanessa, and nieces and nephews Julian Louviere, Savannah Louviere, Cash Courtney, Caroline Courtney, and Charlotte Courtney, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Courtney families charitable foundation. Checks payable to the Living to Give Foundation can be mailed to Prosperity Bank, 2202 Longmire Drive College Station, TX 77845.
