Vala Bradshaw

February 15, 1960 — August 31, 2018

Jeannie Bradshaw, 58, of Caldwell passed from this world on August 31, 2018 at her home in Caldwell. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 5:00 p.m., Saturday, September 15, 2018, with Pastor Terry Bage officiating, followed by a Celebration of Life from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. at Frenstat Hall, 8610 FM 2774, Caldwell, Texas 77836.

Vala Jean Bradshaw was born at Spohn Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas on February 15, 0f 1960 to James Howard Bostic and Margaret Mary Roy Bostic. She Graduated from West Columbia High School in West Columbia, TX.

Her mother started giving her guitar lessons at an early age. She played both Lead, Bass and also sang. She was asked to join a gospel group in Glen Lynn Virginia at the age of eleven. Jeannie was about 12 when the family moved back to Texas. She played at a benefit for the Oyster Creek Fire Department, where she sat in with a group of musicians whose leader asked her to join their band. She later played with Tom Crouch’s band, and the Teddy Bears, and also with the Colt 45 band. She most recently played with the Jennings Towslee band until after Father’s Day 2018 when she broke her left arm. Country music had always been a great part of her life, but she could “rock” with the best of them.

Jeannie is survived by her husband of 24 years, Patrick Bradshaw; daughter, Amanda Lynn Mondey Rae; son-in-law, John Rae; grandson, John Preston Rae; son, Robert Erin Mondey; daughter, Allie Christine Mondey; daughter-in-law, Caylee Pliler Mondey; and her son, Chase Clark. She is survived by a sister, Jo Bostic and a niece, Cathaleen Perkins, two nephews, Howard Perkins, John Perkins, and his son Jonathan Perkins and brother, Bill West, of San Antonio, TX.

Jeannie loved flowers and gardening. She had a green thumb like no other. If you gave her soil and water she could make anything grow.

Jeannie had many interests, such as art, painting, photography and drawing, which she excelled at when in high school along with making outstanding grades in the three R’s.

Jeannie love her family and loved to cook and bake for them from scratch. She loved to sew for her children. She would make dresses and bows for her and shirts with pearl snaps for him. She excelled in calligraphy and she loved to put little hand-written notes in the lunches of her children and now her grandchildren.

Her favorite holiday was Christmas, and she always started decorating her tree on Thanksgiving Day. Hopefully she put finishing touches on it by the time to take it down and pack everything away next year, it was always a work in progress.

Jeannie loved to swim in the pool with her family and friends and summer could never get here soon enough for her. She loved to have what she called “Happenings.” The reason for the name “Happening” is that nothing was ever planned, people just showed up and she always felt that the more the merrier!
