William Richardson

Funeral services for William Herbert Richardson, 82, of Bryan are set for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville, with Bro. Henry Stovall officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 1, 2020 also at the funeral home. Mr. Richardson passed away on December 30, 2019 at his home in Bryan, Texas.

Herbert was born January 31, 1937 to Frederick William and Minerva Richardson in Adamsville, Texas. He married Barbara Jean Eldridge on September 28, 1963 in Somerville, Texas.

As a young man, Herbert served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church of Bryan and the American Legion #159 of Bryan. Herbert was very active as a volunteer with the Special Olympics Organization. He enjoyed working with his hands. He liked woodworking and was always building things for the kids. Herbert liked to be outdoors and loved spending time with all of his pets. He was known to have a great sense of humor and never met a stranger. He was a very caring and loving person. When he worked at Koppers Tie Plant in Somerville everyone called him “Casey”. His grandchildren were his greatest joy.

Herbert was preceded in death by his parents; son, Bill Richardson; and sisters, Naomi Richardson, Minerva Richardson, Mary Alice Roberts, and Freda Rush.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Richardson of Bryan; daughters, Lea Ann (Ridhardson) Kuhlman of Bryan, Linda Sue Richardson of Caldwell; grandchildren, Carl Lee Richardson, Tommy Glover, Jacy Glover, Jessica Richardson, James Kuhlman; great grandchild, Jason Richardson; sister-in-law, Rose Mary Seyer; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family loved ones and friends.
